Try New Things

“Write a blog,” they said. “It will be good for SEO,” they said. “People will follow you,” they said.

I was told it’s more engaging than a newsletter. I was reminded to include headings and keep sentences short. And make sure to include impactful images, which are a must.

And, of course, don’t forget the one piece of advice that always makes me itchy...

“Everybody’s doing it.”

Blog. Fog. Smog. Every time I thought of doing a blog my head got stuck in the fog and felt as thick as smog. I mean really, what is a blog? What does that mean – a blog?

It basically just sounded like yet another thing I would have to do.

I do not have time for another thing.

And then, it dawned on me.

I am always encouraging clients to explore and TRY NEW THINGS. Why? Because when we try new things, we are often uncomfortable, vulnerable, and more aware. We are on high alert. It is new and exciting and a little bit scary. Our senses awaken and we pay attention. The awareness we have when we try something new triggers our minds to remember this experience and learn from it.

Now that’s something I can get excited about.

In the spirit of following my own advice, I decided to TRY this blog thing. I am excited and eager to learn from this new experience. This might be my one and only blog or maybe I will fall in love with the process of putting the proverbial pen to paper, and I’ll become a famous blogger … if I choose.

Choice. We all have a choice about how we respond to challenges the universe throws in our path.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”

So, welcome to my latest life experiment. I am excited to take you along on this writing journey that will surely challenge my thinking, my habits and, hopefully, provide some insight that will create a positive impact for my readers!
